The Utica Proctor graduate turned reality TV star, Tiffany Pollard, made news this week when a misunderstanding led to a blow-up on the UK's version of Big Brother.

Pollard, who gained notoriety and the nickname, New York, on the VH1 reality TV series "Flavor of Love" is a current cast-member on Big Brother UK along with several personalities including David Bowie's ex-wife Angela Bowie.  When Bowie learned of the death of her ex, legendary rock star David Bowie, she confided in Pollard.  Pollard misunderstood and thought Bowie meant that a fellow cast member, also named David, had died of cancer.  That cast member was alive and well in his bedroom.  What happened after that is classic 'New York,' and ultimately created an epic reality TV moment for the world to see.

Pollard was born in 1982 and graduated from Thomas R. Proctor High School in Utica.  She first appeared on the VH1 series Flavor of Love in 2006 and is known for sharing the longest kiss in television history with the show's star, Flavor Flav. Her popularity on that program created several spin-off television shows, often times bearing her nickname, New York.  Pollard has also appeared in a handful of movies and plays including the Vagina Monologues.  _____________________________________________________________________________
