ZBA Denies Use Variance For Davis Motel

The Zoning Board of Appeals has denied a use variance request from the owner of the Davis Motel.

During a meeting held Tuesday evening at City Hall, the vote ended in a 2-2 tie, resulting in the motion's defeat.

This vote comes only two weeks after one taken during the last Common Council meeting. Members voted 8 to 1 in support of a resolution urging the ZBA to deny the request, unless the property owner refused to accept housing vouchers from the county.

In previous statements, the owner has told WIBX that he would not accept housing vouchers.
