Washington, DC (WIBX) - Congressman Richard Hanna is joining a bi-partisan group of House members in support of Governor Cuomo's request for a major disaster declaration following severe flooding in 26 upstate New York counties in April.

Hanna and the lawmakers have written a letter to President Obama, asking him to approve Cuomo's request.

The flooding affected Oneida, Herkimer and Madison Counties.

It caused over $38-million in damage across the state.

Hanna says the federal disaster declaration would provide vital assistance to help local governments, businesses and individuals rebuild from the storms.
