Joseph Hobika, Jr. says he loves Utica and he is looking for someone else who not only loves it, but is willing to run for City Comptroller.

Hobika, the city's GOP Chairman, is actively seeking candidates to run for the office of City Comptroller.

Are residents of the Mohawk Valley and politicians becoming complacent?

He spoke with WIBX First News with Keeler in the Morning on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.  Keeler asked Hobika's opinion about whether he thought that Mohawk Valley citizens were becoming complacent and whether elected officials are capable of, and doing, their jobs.  Hobika replied that elected officials have to stop campaigning and keep working on the issues that got them elected in the first place.  Of Utica's budgetary challenges, he said those still need to be properly vetted.  He says that there should be policies, not apologies.  What is happening now, according to Hobika, is not working.

Does Hobika have anyone specific in mind for the Comptroller's seat?

A caller asked whether the GOP was entertaining the thought of asking Republican Common Councilwoman Samantha Colosimo-Test to run for Comptroller and Hobika said that they were not looking to do that at this time, adding that he thinks she is doing well representing the sixth ward.

Hobika says, "We have to look forward."
