A new director of the Air Force Research Lab in Rome could be in place as early as December.

That's the word from Congressman Richard Hanna.

Hanna and a representative from Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's office attended a meeting this week with Air Force officials who are overseeing the hiring process.

Hanna says he's confident the search is moving forward on schedule and the Air Force has recruited the best leaders to screen for the important post.

“Rome Lab is on the cutting edge of technological advancements nationwide. I look forward to a strong, dynamic leader being in place by the end of the year” said Hanna.

The nationwide search closed on September 8th.
