The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says motorists should stay off the roads if they can due to the severity of the winter storm, but be aware that speed limits on many major roads, including Interstate 81 in Susquehanna County and Interstate 84 in Wayne County have been reduced to 45 miles per hour.

PennDOT has been treating roads overnight but the roads will not be completely free of ice and snow through the entire area especially with winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour blowing the snow around.

People planning to travel through Pennsylvania can check on conditions at the PennDOT website: www.511PA.com.
