Senate Passes Griffo Bill To Help Utica-Watertown Region
A bill that would provide an additional $573,794 in funds for job training in the health care industry in the Utica-Watertown region has passed the state Senate.
The legislation was sponsored by Senator Joseph Griffo.
It requires that each of each of eight regions statewide receive a minimum of 2.5% of the total Health Workforce Retraining Initiative.
The program supports the training or retraining of health industry workers for new jobs or to meet new job requirements.
The Utica-Watertown region was scheduled to get $96,526 or 0.36% of the $26.8 million to be awarded this year.
