Safety is still being stressed in the aftermath of the record-setting snow storm for the Southern Tier with clean up expected to last several days.

Health officials are encouraging people to do their snow removal in shifts to avoid over-exertion and, residents should try to carefully clear snow from roofs.  There has been one report of a partial roof collapse in Port Crane.

Even though the snow didn’t have a very high moisture content, the sheer amount of accumulation can cause problems with weaker roofs.

Residents are also reminded to completely clean off their vehicles before heading out.  You can be ticketed for having snow blowing off your vehicle, not having the license plate totally visible or for having taillights or headlights blocked by snow.
