The Utica Boilermaker Road race will be holding a virtual Saranac Post-Race Party on Tuesday.

The Empire State Race-Off is the Utica Boilermaker's way of determining New York's best running city, but, will Utica win the challenge? "Currently Rochester is in the lead," said Jordan Peters, the Sponsor and Marketing Director at the Boilermaker. Peters was on WIBX's Keeler Show on Friday morning.

The 43rd running of the Utica Boilermaker was to have taken place on Sunday, but the race was cancelled due to concerns over the coronavirus.

The Utica National Insurance Kids Run, which was scheduled to take place this Saturday, has been transformed to a virtual event due to concerns over COVID-19.

The Boilermaker’s retail store at 805 Court Street in Utica has re-opened to the public.

For the first time in 43 years, the Utica Boilermaker Road Race will not take place on the second Sunday in July.

The virtual six week program is designed to keep kids active this summer as the pandemic has put youth sports on hold and pushed this year's Boilermaker to the fall.

Registration for the 2020 Boilermaker will resume Friday, May 1st at noon.

The race has been run the second Sunday in July every year since 1978, but this year’s Utica Boilermaker Road Race will be taking place in September.

It looks like Utica's premiere summertime event will be postponed for two months because of the coronavirus.
